★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Only a little English spoken but was easy to arrange everything. By the way this ryokan had the best breakfast i have ever had in Japan. Public transportation is very close by. The onsen was located on the top floor of the building and it had beautiful surrounding mountain view.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Loved this ryokan/hotel. It's over 100 years old and the Japanese hospitality here is wonderful. Less snobbish than the other ryokan we stayed at the night before (Shousuke No Yado Takinoyu). It is also incredibly charming and a book lover's and onsen lover's dream. It has 2 onsen baths and 2 library nooks with a free coffee and tea area so you can curl up with a hot cup of herbal tea and read a book in a cosy seat. It's quiet, lots of seating and warm. The onsens were warmer and cleaner than Shosuke. I enjoyed the onsen on level 2 the most. Level 10 had a great view at night, but I preferred the smaller & cosier onsen on level 2. Both onsens are wonderful - the water is much warmer than Shosuke which I preferred. The rooms were just as spacious and better designed with ample space for shoes and baggage. We stayed in room 616. The futons and pillows were easily the most comfortable we have had in Japan. Very warm all night in the middle of winter. Heated air con did not dry us out. Kaiseki dinner and breakfast are also 5 stars. Kaiseki quality beat previous ryokans we've stayed at - generous portions and selections - Fukushima beef, 1-day miso marinated fish, seasonal entrees and desserts were numerous (7 entrees and 3 desserts). They went over and above. Breakfast had more choice than Shousuke and included Western pastries. I'd stay here again in a heart beat. Love!!!

fantastic view from 10th floor rooftop open hot spring water bath, all you can eat breakfast, all soooooo good!!
High quality hot spring water bath made my skin so smooth and silky. Love it!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The best ryokan ever visited during 1 year living in Japan. Absolutely adorable view on the whole Higashiyama Onsen territory and Aizu town; public onsen with rotenburo is charming, too. Meals in the buffet are rash and tasty.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Transportation was offered to areas of interest. Everything in the room was spotless. After walking for the whole day, it was truly relaxing to dip yourself in the onsen. The food for dinner and breakfast is excellent. The nights we were there we enjoyed lovely sunsets from the bath. Its a total value for money.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed at the hotel 4 nights at the end of the month. In the morning you have ***y options for transportation. We were pleasantly surprised at the amenities. The entire property was spotless regardless of the time of day. Its team is really professional with a smiling kindness. Price is good for its area.

Great view from both the onsens, but better on the 10th floor.
The dinner buffet was amazing, though would have liked some sushi. The spread was still amazing. Even the breakfast. No complaints on the food served and the service.
Room was big and spacious even for the 4 of us.
Sunset at 5 pm and it's apparently a great view from the 10th floor onsen. Do make it in time [we missed it :( ]

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a classic Japanese style Ryokan with Tocuh for western room (in case you don't want to enjoy Japanese tatami room)
Huge rooms, spotless room infact whole hotel was spotless,
Free drinks including some alcoholic in lounge until 10pm,
Outdoor bath from 10th floor is one of the best thing I like about this hotel.
Good thing all directions, menu & other details are in English too,
Only small concern is variety of Breakfast was little less,
Overall very comfortable stay.
