★ ★ ★ ★ ★ キンシ正宗の「松屋久兵衛」を買いに行きました、とてもフルーティーな日本酒です。豊富な地下水がこんこんと湧き出てました。酒好きなら行ってみる価値あります。
I went to buy Kinshi Masamune's "Matsuya Kubei", a very fruity sake. There was plenty of underground water coming out. If you like liquor it is worth going.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ふらりと偶然に立ち寄ったのですが、展示物も興味深く、更に店主の方が気さくに井戸を案内してくださいました。
帰りの新幹線にエールを頂きます!楽しみ!
I stopped by by chance, but the exhibits were interesting, and the owner kindly showed me around the well.
We will have an ale on the return Shinkansen! fun!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A lovely small museum where you can freely walk inside a centuries-old "machi-ya" or village house. You get to see a video with English subtitles for more background.
However, the highlight of the visit is the old brewery. You can see and feel the traditional tools and wooden equipment they used to brew sake. A video with English subtitles is shown here as well.
Go outside in the garden and you will note a small bamboo pipe with flowing water. Drink it! The soft water is EXCELLENT, just like the Belgian SPA water (non-sparkling)! It is the same water that the brewery uses now for its craft beers. Tourists refill their bottles here for a good reason, so why don't you have a few cups?
In the end you can taste all of their sake. I bought some very tasty daiginjou sake for home!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I came here at the recommendation of my Japanese teacher while studying abroad and had a wonderful time. I really enjoyed the videos detailing some of the history and sake making procedures. The historical artifacts and legacy advertisements were interesting as well though my favorite parts of the tour were the fountain of well water and the cellar where the brewing took place back in the day (now brewing is in the Fushimi area). I highly recommend coming here just for the tour!
Lastly, the tasting experience is excellent! The lady providing the tastings was very friendly, had a strong grasp of English, and was able to explain the differences between grades of sake and answer any other questions I had. Initially I tried the two sakes (45% and 60% I believe) and the “alt” beer. Next she brought out samples of the plum wine and shiso version. When I mentioned I also wanted to buy a gift for my host family she gave me a sample of their 35% sake to try. When I saw the Yuzu at the end she also gave me a taste of that! I really appreciated all the help, recommendations, and delicious tastings.
For 500yen, this place is more than worth the tour and tasting experience. I honestly can’t wait until I can travel to Japan again with my husband to bring him here.
