Viewable for free. If you look roughly, about 30 minutes. Above all, it is very good to be able to see the woodwork such as [Kinawashin], which is exhibited in museums and castles, etc. in close proximity. If desired, guidance and explanation by the person in charge can be provided.

It is a small museum, but you can enjoy it.

At this museum English speaker is available on every Tuesday. And a tea-house architect is available on every Thursday.
At this museum English speaker is available on every Tuesday. And a tea-house architect is available on every Thursday. A small but tightly packed museum. I don't want to display it gently, but I think it has been devised so that viewers can enjoy what they see. I felt the director's desire to leave good things for future generations.

A small museum on the 3rd floor of an ordinary building. It took a little courage to open the entrance door on the 1st floor ? When you go up on the elevator, you can enjoy the world of wood ? freely by touching, smelling and moving. The kind and polite director will also explain about the wooden structure and tools ? It was a facility that I enjoyed more than I expected ?

A street corner museum where you can learn more about Japanese traditional wooden construction techniques ? The inside of the building is surprisingly small, but you can learn about timberwork in an easy-to-understand manner, and I am happy to see a model of that mechanism on display ? Especially the huge timber-framed exhibits are a masterpiece ??? It's even more fun to be free ?? There is also a corner of Tsuneichi Nishioka, who was called the last carpenter, and valuable materials and panels are displayed, and it is the best to know more about timberwork ???

It is an indie independent museum where you can see traditional Japanese wooden construction techniques. The director has been managing the construction of sukiya and shrines and temples for more than 40 years, and due to the critical situation such as inheritance of traditional techniques and depletion of materials, it was made to be known by many people and to be connected to posterity. that's right. In the construction method that does not use nails, you can actually touch and understand that the materials are combined like a puzzle by the skill of a craftsman, the impact such as an earthquake is dispersed, and the building is strengthened.

It’s open on Wednesday through Friday only but this is a must see museum for people who loves Japanese architecture and woodwork. Well maintained and very informative exhibits. You can also visit Ana-Hachiman shrine right next to it.
