★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I cycled from Oike along the river to this place. Lovely sunny Sunday morning and it's on the way to Enkoji temple.
Nice vibe, though I didn't quite see the magic that makes it one of the world's most fabled bookshops. If I were a Japanese reader it would be regular haunt for me.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of those special bookstores. Their selection of books are very interesting, and the atmosphere is definitely made by book lovers. It has quiet, settled tastes. It seems to be of a place that treasures small things and details. I wish I knew Japanese more to enjoy more of its selections! Anyways, the place is enjoyable both from in and out! Visited in the late evening, but I'm pretty sure this place will be as good in the mornings and afternoons.

I really liked the atmosphere and the staff were helpful :) It was rated as one of the best bookstores in the world for a reason!

There very few English books but if you can read Japanese there’s a whole lot to explore since everything is carefully curated! They occasionally hold small exhibitions as well and their postcard collection is very interesting!
