★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Kankuji Temple is located in the west of Daikakuji Temple. The name of the temple spread its influence to the names of surrounding area such as Kankuji Dani valley, Kankuji Myosui-cho ( Town of Kankuji Myosui ). Kannon-do Hall stands for a hall where a statue of kannon is preserved. The temple was originally found by Emperor Saga in 870. However the temple was ruined in the middle ages and rebuilt by Emperor Go-Mizuo between 1591-1615. Later on it was again ruined and eventually transformed itself as a sub-temple of Daikakuji Temple to hold a statue of Jyuichimen Kannon ( a Kannon statue with 11 faces ).
