I visited in February 2022. I bought the popular sliced yokan. It is very delicious when placed on bread and baked. There was an eat-in space, so it seems that you can get Japanese sweets here. It's this time of the year, so be sure to check.

A long-established store of Japanese sweets with a store in Samegai-dori, Shijo, Kyoto. Founded in 1803, Kyowa. "Slice Yokan", which was introduced on Kansai TV's Chacha-in Monday, is famous. Bread with sliced yokan and butter, baked in the open range and eaten is extremely delicious! In addition, we also recommend the Wasanbon pudding, which uses Wasanbon, a number of Japanese sweets wrapped in colorful paper, using our spring water "Kakugaimizu" since its establishment. The inside of the store is large and bright, so you can shop calmly. Immediately after getting off at Kyoto City Bus "Shijohorikawa".

Went there for a kyo-wagashi making lesson and it was fantastic. They provided a translator because I can't speak any Japanese and she was very kind and helpful. The main instructor also seemed very friendly and great (although I couldn't understand him). We made 3 wagashi, 2 to take home and 1 to eat there with some Matcha tea and another type of wagashi that was demonstrated to us. Very delicious and a fun and interesting experience

A unique dessert experience in Kyoto. At first, the place looks as fancy as a jewellery store. It will intrigue you enough to stop and have a look. Each Wagashi looks like a master piece and tastes very different. We tried a few with green tea and loved the different textures and attention to detail given in making them The place is very clean and hygienic and utmost care is taken to maintain such standards. Bon Appetit

I had an excellent time learning how to make Wagashi here. If you cannot speak Japanese, you may request English assistence. The English speaking worker was very kind and helpful. The chef who teaches the class is very skillful, and after his demonstrations, he may give young children what he has made. We got to make 3 different kinds of wagashi. 2 you may bring home, and 1 is to be eaten there, with tea provided. It was a very memorable experience.
