落ち着いた雰囲気の店内で、注文してから作られるくずきりをいただくのは至極の時です。ちょっとお値段は張りますが、その価値は十分にあると思います。
It is the perfect time to have Kuzukiri made after ordering in a calm atmosphere. It's a bit pricey, but I think it's well worth it.

Quiet tea shop in which you can enjoy delicious, refreshing kuzikiri: handmade arrowroot noodles with black sugar syrup. A little expensive at JPY1,000 for a small dessert and tea. Some other sweets also sold but no English translation and menu is limited.

It would be easy to pass by this establishment without notice of the tea room oasis that rests inside; I gather the confidence in their craft yet the ambivalence towards outward facing plastic food or signs to encourage pagoda visitors signifies they are content with serving those who truly appreciate this nuance in the first place. While not a traditional tea ceremony, it did see to offer authentic tea selections and sweets, and we were impressed with hospitality and presentation in a casual setting.

Lovely little Cafe with good ambience. We very much enjoyed the matcha tea served with kyo wagashi sweets. So beautiful and tasty! It was a little tricky to find as there's no English sign outside but that also meant we were the only tourists there. The staff is very friendly and there is an English menu available. If you're there to try their famous kyo wagashi, be warned that on the English menu they're called "moist sweets" instead.

Not many tourists know this place. Quiet and lovely. Must try their signature item, Kuzukiri with black sugar.

In Kyoto, it's a must to plan some slots just for sweets and desserts during the afternoon. Kagizen is an old name, famous for their Kikujyuto and Kuzukiri. And they have three branches. One is the Gion, which is always packed and another one is around Kodaiji area. Less crowded and peaceful to enjoy your sweets. Only tried the Kuzukiri. Chilled Kuzukiri with water & ice, as well as the brown sugar cane molasses are elegantly housed in urushi-wares. Very smooth and the accompanying molasses mix is just right, not too sweet. Refreshing, especially good to combat the afternoon heat.
