Japan RV Rental - Tomisato

We rented a camper from the Narita branch of Japan RV Rental. The Caper was fine, everything was clean and provided as described and the service was good. The manager is rather correct, but a very fair guy and it was a pleasure to do business with him. I would recommend to everyone to see Japan by camper, it is an amazing experience, and Japan RV Rental is a good place to get that camper from.

Find another company! Japan is beautiful and camping is cool. But don’t use Japan RV rental. We just finished a 3 week rental of a camper van from Japan RV rental. And what an disappointing experience. For starters, we had 3 different vans. The first one had malfunctioning brakes. Actually after one week the front brakes were completely gone. Not a very nice experience when you drive around in the Japanese mountains with your family. When we called to tell about the problem, they told us that noise from the brakes was quite normal. We had to insist that they had someone look at the car. It turned out that the brake was completely broken. We had to put our trip on standby and spend a night in a hotel before we got a new camper, quite shocked about what could have happened if we had trusted Japan RV Rental. After one week in the second camper, the electrical system fail. We had one more day on stand before we got yet another camper. Luckily for us, it was now the Osaka Branch that helped us out. Much more professional than the Narita branch. After the problem with the brakes they offered us a compensation on 10k Jpy, which is less than a days rent. (We never received the compensation). As we argued that it was a poor compensation, the response was that we caused all the problems by our self. We are still waiting for an answer on how we caused one out of 4 brakes to not working anymore?? We are really disappointed and surprised with Japan RV rental. And mostly the Narita branch. It’s the first time we experience this kind of behavior in Japan. Instead of accepting that the product they sold us was not up to standard(at all!!) they try to blame the customers. We spend so much money and have been looking forward to this camper-trip for several years, and these guys don’t care at all. We will really not recommend this company to anybody.

I rented the type E during the first week of the Rugby World Cup 2019, I drove over 3000km's (no mileage charges) without a single problem. The staff were extremely helpful, the vehicle in good condition, economical and all charges as previously detailed. I highly recommend this service. As a side note and nothing to do with Japan Rv rental. They give you for free, a toll pass which registers all your journeys to be paid on return with an official government printout. For my journey this was US$554 because due to time constraints, I had only used expressways. If you were leisurely driving Japan on the back roads, this would not be an issue. Another note very much in their benefit, is that it is clearly stated that their office closes at 18.00 but due to serious typhoon rains, I arrived at 22.30. Somebody had waited for me and I was not charged any late fee's due to the circumstances, which was very much appreciated.

Great rental company- which we have used twice now. We even received a returning customer voucher for the last rental. The short noticed booking was handed very professional and the pick up was easy and swifty. The pick up from Narita at the Hotel was much appreciated. The team at Narita Japan rental is outstanding and they even rushed us on return to the Airport as we have been VERY late at our return. Thanks so much. The camper self was in good condition for being 7 year sold, hwoever we think (especially when its cold) it would be great to have a divider curtain or even better some insulation, thermal screens in the driver cabin windows- a lot of cold comes through the driver cab and also privacy is a issue. Definite a company to recommend for foreigners who want to travel Japan in a RV.

We hired a Type E small camper for 12 days and it was brilliant. The van was spotless and hardly had a scratch on it. We took the standard insurance with the large excess and was refunded the whole amount at the end. The guides on the website are really awesome and the girl that checked us in gave us a full guide book and maps of Japan to loan. The free camping site for Japan is brilliant and super easy to use once you choose a prefecture which we met some people in the road and they hadn’t found any free camping because they hadn’t selected the prefecture/region. We used the onsens/public baths every day and all the roadside rest stops have toilets. Highly recommend this way to see Japan. The road speed limits are 50 km per hour so plan for less kms a day than you are used to. The fuel consumption on the van was brilliant and for over 2000km we filled up 3 times. The beds go flat, the air con was great. We brought our own sheets and sleeping bags as it was so hot that we didn’t use them even in the alps. Really great customer service and fast. The team picked us up and dropped us back at the train station as well.

Excellent service, trustworthy company. The RV that has been given to me and my friend was in great shape, reliable, comfortable, not too expensive (since car rental is really pricey in Japan) and really clean. A real pleasure to drive! We've been charmed by the whole experience. We've driven from Narita to Hiroshima (for a total of 2500km roundtrip) from March 7th to March 17th 2020 without any issue. If you plan a trip during that time of the year, make sure you have a warm sleeping bag... Or ask them for a few extra blankets! The owner took all the necessary time to explain us everything we needed to know about driving in Japan, which helped me to be confident to drive on these amazing but unknown roads. I'd be more than pleased to refer this company to anyone who wants to discover Japan by driving and would definitely do business with them as well! We had a really great experience with Japan RV Rentals. They helped us to secure a last minute booking 24 hours before pick up after rental cars cancelled on us last minute. They were really easy to communicate with and provided an excellent service. Would highly recommend!

Great way to explore Japan with flexibility and avoid the crowds. Very hospitable staff and were accommodating for a reservation within 24 hours.
