★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 水面は前の道路面と同じくらいの高さにあります。湧き出ているところは見えませんでしたが、水は澄んで周りに石積みもあり清らかさが辺りを包んでいます。

首都圏にある井戸は蓋がされていて中の様子がわからないという場合が多いのですが、この井戸はそうではありません。
底は浅いのですが、綺麗な水が確認できました。

鎌倉市街は古代海底だったので鎌倉時代には飲用水に耐える井戸がなかなか確保出来なかった中で、飲用水に適した井戸として重宝された名水だが･･･
現在では全く手入れされず機能的に死んでいる。
･･･貴重な史跡であり、大地震等で水道が災害で途絶えた際に活用出来る貴重な水源でもあるのに全く2020年時点の鎌倉市が手入れをしておらず荒れ放題。
鎌倉市は災害対策として各所にわざわざ井戸水を掘削し設置したのに、現在の市長さんは水源確保の政策も文化財保護も軽視している事が如実に現れている場所。
