★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They refused to serve my wife and I, we were told they were closed even though they clearly were not (it was 7 pm) and seated another couple moments after us . We were stunned, hurt and completely baffled. We don’t know why, but we are of South Asian descent so draw whatever conclusion from that you want.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very traditional sushi experience and very friendly owner he took on his fathers legacy very heart warming to see a true family business also his wife and mother run the restraunt as well, I reccomend this place it is very good. Also try the set course very fun

This is by far the best sushi in the whole of Kyoto city.
If you want the freshest, tastiest en most delicious sushi please do yourself a favor and go here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a wonderful dining experience at Gion-Emon. The Food was of superb quality, tastefully presented in a welcoming atmosphere where everyone involved did their utmost for us to enjoy the experience. Great value! A family run establishment with long traditions.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Food was okay, service was also good, but the sushis were small and way overpriced. 300 yen sitting charge from the start, then count 3000yen for the smallest menu. I'm still really hungry after it, and I took an extra sushi on top of my menu !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food is very average and prices are unreasonably high. I would skip this place. The service is below average, very slow, and forgot some parts of our order. Green tea came after we were done eating when we asked for it. We had to cancel our miso soup because it simply didn't show up so when we asked for it after we were done eating we just decided to cancel. Not sure if service is below average because the place is like that or because we are foreigners. Also it is highly overpriced. 5,500yen for 16 sashimis, a small bowl of sushi rice, and 1 salmon nigiri. Plus the two green teas at the end. I'd say overpriced much.
