Epic deserts but a wonderdul place for a special lunch too!

The obvious highlight is their kinako or soy flour, which has a slightly more burnt or smoky flavor than you would typically find. It makes their warabi mochi and parfaits really stand out. One drawback is, as with other places in Gion, the long line and wait even after you have been seated. It makes getting lunch a little dodgy, but since the wait is so long, you might take a number then register it on your phone and leave to eat lunch before coming back for your dessert.

Desserts were really really good. I actually expected to be disappointed considering the pictures and the long wait. But i admit i was wrong, the parfait was wonderful. However, one star off because the wait was ridiculous and due to customers seemed to be unnecessarily long (Stop taking pictures and eat!)

One of my purposes of visiting Kyoto for a day was to try their seasonal dessert, and it exceeded my expectations! I ordered “banshu no kuri to Houjicha parfait” - chestnut treats with Houjicha ice cream… there were so many layers to the parfait such as, cooked chestnuts, chestnut cream, Houjicha ice cream, thin merengue, kinako powder to name a few. I can’t wait to try others when the season changes.

On the expensive side, but worth it for a treat. The parfaits are always fantastic, and they give out extra kinako (roasted soy powder) for you to use as you please. Their queuing system is also convenient if you have a Japanese phone number, as they’ll call you, so you can walk around the area instead of waiting right outside.

A shop that specialises in Kinako (roasted soybean powder) offering desserts but also lunch sets. The first floor is mainly for buying their Kinako products and the second floor is their café/tea room where customers can sit and dine. It's a small cafe so there can be quite a wait at peak hours. Their warabi mochi is very good and well presented but too pricey and small. Their Kinako iced drink is also delicious and not too sweet.

This shop is famous for their kinako powder. All three desserts we tried speaks high quality and intricate flavor and texture. A lot of thought goes into each. Even the standard Warabi mochi has exquisite texture that can only be had with fresh made in house. The purple top was a combo of purple potato, apples, tea jelly, fresh whipped cream and meringue disc.

I absolutely loved eating my unique parfait that was made of shaved ice, fresh cream, kinako soybean powder, chocolate bits, tapioca pearls, and more! My friend had the salmon lunch meal which also looked absolutely delicious, and the kinako parfait that they are famous for, and everything was spectacular. Also, the ambiance is modern, clean, and sleek, with a Japanese touch. And the service was great! The waitress took photos of us several times. Overall, a great place!
