Chiba Tsunekata was a warlord from the late Heian period to the early Kamakura period and was the founder of the Chiba family. On September 17, when Minamoto no Yoritomo, who had landed in Awa, was heading to Kamakura, Chiba Tsunekawa reportedly participated in Yoritomo, heading 300 horses of the clan to Shimosa Kokufu.

平安～鎌倉期の甲冑［大鎧］栴檀板・鳩尾板・大袖威などの細部の作り込みが良好で、完成度の高い実に堂々たる銅像である（馬がサラブレッドw）。しかし、山形城跡に在る『最上義光公』の躍動感溢れる独特なオーラを放つ銅像には到底敵うまい。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very nice castle that’s easily accessible walking distance from Hon-Chiba station. Very beautiful and free entry are great pluses. The inside is a museum that has quite a few articles with English translations describing them.
