★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Idumoya is a very very old restaurant and it's really great and it has very beautiful food and stuff is very friendly and also the coronavirus measurements were taken the place is very clean and the staffs were very friendly and the service was great I had an amazing experience in there and I really enjoyed my time and I will definitely come back this place is the most go to restaurant if you want to have some quality food and the quality experience in Japan I had to give it five stars because of the overwhelm and the experience that I had

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The unagi was absolutely delicious but they gave me a super nasty-looking eel liver and told me to eat it. Also the fish sashimi that I got tasted like nothing and it was full of bones. For 2600 yen, it was definitely not worthwhile with eel liver and bony fish sashimi. However, the service was good overall and the lemonade soda was quite tasty. And the sukiyaki that my family shared was sweet and delicious!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We are a group of 6 went for lunch that day. Great location that we could have a great view of Kamogawa. Waitresses were nice but the taste was not that good. The unagi and the rice were dry. One of our group said that the sashimi seems not fresh enough and the soup was so salty. maybe we don't quite get used to traditional favour. At least we don't think it worth that expensive cost.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We visit annually as tourists and have had consistently good experiences with the beef sukiyaki set, which they help prepare at your table. As it's in a prime location it can get busy, but with friendly English-speaking staff and a clear menu, the prices are reasonable. I was genuinely surprised to see some very negative reviews which I think are not merited - ultimately this is a high traffic restaurant that is slightly upmarket ; so try to go at a less busy time and align expectations :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our first meal in Kyoto and is not really impressed by the overall level of the food. We ordered sukiyaki beef and also kaiseki-type meal. Both are pretty average but we felt underwhelmed by the dishes compared to the price we are paying. I felt like we are paying for the view of the Kamo river rather than the food itself.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great eel restaurant with a superb view of the Kamogawa river. The river terrace is only available for expensive menus of meat, at the second floor you can enjoy eel at a reasonable price. All ingredients seem to be high quality (even the tsukemono) and the green tea is also pretty decent. Definitely recommend if you don't want to spend 5000+ for a similar menu

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great location, service is nice but kinda slow (or too little of staff vs guests). The presentation of the food is interesting but the food itself are not fresh as all. It was like the food was made since the morning then serve us for dinner. The amount of food is good for the price but the quality is really make us not coming back. Not recommend.
