★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wish I could find Warabi Mochi like they make it here outside of Arashiyama. Thankfully, they have take-home containers which expire in a week or two so you can share the experience with some friends.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome customer service, then absolutely delicious products, what you are allowed to drive to your hearts content. The shop attendant and I talked a little bit about politics, the recent increase in tourists, and where I’m from. It was a fun, delightful stop at an unassuming shop.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The shopkeeper was so pleasant to chat to. The shop has quite a few sweets which you can sample and there are some fairly unique desserts that are exclusive to the Arashiyama area, with diverse and unexpected tastes for some of them. You can also dine in with some of the treats as well, although when we visited we were the only visitors at the time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Shop sells many different flavours of nuts and beans, 3 packet for ¥1080 which is not expensive. Some flavours are really addictive like the mustard mayonnaise.
The also sells traditional sweets like warabi mochi which taste good too.
They provide food samples for almost every product so you can try before you buy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The mochis are to die for! Soft and chewy without being overly sweet! Try the other snacks while you’re there. They are so generous with their samples! The set I had was yum. Get it! I bought the DIY boxes home. Had it two weeks later and it still tasted exactly like the samples in the shop. So, if you’re skeptical like I was about bringing it back to your home country and it’s freshness, rest assured. It’s gonna be ok!
