The terminal station of the JR Ome Line. The Okutama Industrial Waterborne Freight Line is currently suspended. It is a mountain hut-like station building at a station that has been certified as one of the 100 stations in Kanto. It is a tourist attraction with the Hikawa Valley nearby, surrounded by nature.

トイレは駅でて左手にあります。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ずいぶん久しぶりに訪れました。駅舎はずいぶん綺麗に整備されたようです。駅周辺はあまり大きく変わっていないのでしょうか？駅の奥、奥多摩工業の工場から浜川崎まで南武線経由で石灰石輸送専用の貨物列車が走っていました。EF64、その前はED16が牽引してました。今はトラック輸送に切り替わったらしく、奥多摩駅構内の貨物用側線は全て撤去されています。
I visited for the first time in a long time. The station building seems to be in good condition. Hasn't the area around the station changed so much? At the back of the station, a freight train dedicated to limestone transportation was running from the Okutama Kogyo factory to Hamakawasaki via the Nambu line. EF64, before that ED16 was the driving force. It seems that it has now switched to truck transportation, and all freight sidings inside Okutama Station have been removed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ まちの景観に合ったデザインの駅舎で、とてもきれい。
登山者の一人として一番嬉しかったのは、隣接する場所にある公衆トイレの美しさ。
掃除が行き渡っているし(役所の車も傍に止まってたので管理をこまめにしている印象を受けた)、トイレの入口には靴の泥落としができる蛇口、地元の小学生の作品展示もあったり、トイレの中は利用者がとても混雑してたけれど、明るく清潔に保たれていた。手洗い場には泡ハンドソープもあり、この存在だけで、奥多摩のイメージがとても良くなった。
きっと管理は大変だろうけど、応援してます。登山場所はとても多い地域なので、きっとまた行きます。
The station building is designed to match the scenery of the town and is very beautiful.
One of the most happy climbers was the beauty of the public toilets in the adjacent area.
Cleaning is widespread (I got the impression that the car in the office was also parked beside me, so I was diligent in managing it), there was a faucet at the entrance of the toilet where you could remove mud from your shoes, and there was an exhibition of works by local elementary school students. Also, the toilet was very crowded, but it was kept bright and clean. There is also a foam hand soap in the hand-washing area, and this presence alone has greatly improved the image of Okutama.
I'm sure it will be difficult to manage, but I support you. There are so many places to climb, so I'm sure I will go there again.
