★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 岡山から10~15分という利便性の良さが良い。
電車の本数もそれなりにある。
2020年4月11日からは無人駅になってしまうのが、非常に残念。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 瀬戸大橋線も輸送力増強で部分複線区間があるが「完全」ではない為ひと度「遅れ」が生じるとこの辺りで頭を押さえられてしまう。木見駅へ向かう為利用した下り普通列車は上り貨物列車の遅れ(3分位)で危うく後の予定が狂ってしまう所だった。
マリンライナーは日中妹尾、早島と分けて停車するが朝夕は両駅に停車し加えて大元、上りは備前西市と大元にも止まる列車があり中々複雑である。岡山、高松双方に配慮された運転である。

The downhill ordinary train I used to go to Kimi station was a place where the schedule after that was almost out of order due to the delay (about 3 minutes) of the uphill freight train.
The Marine Liner stops separately from Seno and Hayashima during the day, but it is complicated because there are trains that stop at both stations in the morning and evening and also stop at Omoto, and uphill at Bizen-Nishiichi and Omoto. Driving is considered for both Okayama and Takamatsu.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 小さな駅なのに、快速マリンライナーが停まるのは便利です。しかも待ち時間が数分程度で鈍行と連結している。四国からの電車旅にはありがたい中継駅。
Although it is a small station, it is convenient for the rapid marine liner to stop. Moreover, the waiting time is only a few minutes, which is connected to the slow train. A relay station that is appreciated when traveling by train from Shikoku.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 瀬戸大橋線の駅。小規模な駅ながらマリンライナー等の特急が停まる駅。駅周辺には喫茶店が1軒あるだけで、食事できるところはない。トイレも男女共用で駅の外に一つあるだけ。田舎の懐かしい雰囲気のする親しみやすい駅。
Seto Ohashi Line station. A small station where limited express trains such as the Marine Liner stop. There is only one coffee shop around the station, and there is no place to eat. There is only one toilet outside the station for both men and women. A friendly station with a nostalgic atmosphere in the countryside.

駅舎はしっかりしています。(ちょっと小さめだと思いますが)2面2線のホームです。
駅周辺には何にもない。(ちょっと言い方がおかしいかもしれない)
でもさっき書いたことは確かで、少し歩かないと、スーパーやコンビニがある感じです。
バスが走っていた気がする。
観光センターが駅を出た辺にあります。
周りは田んぼだらけ。まだ栄えてはいない様です。
前の道は結構交通量あった気がする。
うp主の考えだが、駅前の横断歩道には押しボタン式の信号機とかつけて欲しいですね。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ホームは2面2線だが、下りホーム反対側のスペースにもう1本線路を引けば2面3線に出来そうな気がする。
瀬戸大橋開通後の宇野線は列車本数に対して単線区間が多く、以前は通過列車もここで運転停車することがあった。
2009年に駅の前後が複線化されたので現在通過列車は停車しない。
この駅では複線区間延長前にこのような「南風逆走事件」があった(山陽新聞2000年10月23日記事を参考)。
2000年9月27日20時頃、下りマリン57号がこの駅で上り貨物列車の通過待ちをしていた時、その日は貨物列車が遅れていた。
しばらくすると、何と後続の下り南風17号が来てしまい、目の前にマリンがいたため早島駅手前で停車。
一方、久々原駅を過ぎた上り貨物列車は進行方向に南風がいたため、こちらも早島駅手前で停車。
マリン57号の進行方向を塞ぐ形で3本の列車が三竦みの状態になってしまった。
貨物列車を早島駅上りホームに誘導し2本の下り列車を行き違いさせることも考えられたが、貨物列車の全長が430mに対して当駅の列車停止区間が202mだったためそれも不可能。
そのため南風を妹尾駅までバックしてそこで貨物列車とすれ違わせるしか手がなかった。
原因は貨物列車が妹尾駅を通過するまで南風を同駅に待機させるべきだった司令室の単純ミスだった。
ちなみにそのさらに後続の下りマリン59号に乗っていた自分は備前西市駅でその貨物列車が来るまで長時間待たされたが、何が起きたのか分かるはずがなく、車内放送では踏切事故と言っていたと思う。

Around 20:00 on September 27, 2000, when the down marine No. 57 was waiting for the up freight train to pass at this station, the freight train was delayed on that day.
After a while, the following down south wind No. 17 came and stopped in front of Hayashima station because there was a marine in front of me.
On the other hand, the ascending freight train that passed Kuguhara Station had a southerly wind in the direction of travel, so it also stopped in front of Hayashima Station.
Three trains were in a state of three-way, blocking the direction of travel of Marine No. 57.
It was conceivable to guide the freight train to the up platform of Hayashima Station and cross the two down trains, but that is not possible because the total length of the freight train is 430m and the train stop section of this station is 202m.
Therefore, I had no choice but to back the south wind to Senoo Station and pass it with the freight train there.
The cause was a simple mistake in the control room where the south wind should have been waiting at Senoo Station until the freight train passed Senoo Station.
By the way, I was on the subsequent downhill Marine No. 59 and waited for a long time until the freight train arrived at Bizen-Nishiichi Station, but I could not understand what happened, and the in-car broadcast said that it was a railroad crossing accident. I think it was.
