★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Unfortunately the younger man (plenty of pictures of him here) who used to run the shop has passed away. Now only the older gentleman is running the shop. Came back here after two years to buy new knives again and talked to the current owner. He will close the shop in 2028, all the knives are 30% off now.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was amazed by this small local shop. The quality of the knives is outstanding, and the price, unbeatable. I checked different cutlery stores and this one clearly stood out. Take note they only accept cash, and the price displayed includes the taxes. They will engrave your name on the blade for free. Very polite, patient, gave good explanations. Highly recommend.

They took the time to explain the purpose of each knife and sharpened and engraved our purchases. Seemed to be about half the price of similar knives we found in Kyoto. Definitely worth a visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Large variety of quality knives, with friendly personal attention from the owners. They will engrave any knife you buy from them, and teach you how to sharpen it, if you decide to also buy a whetstone from them. Very reasonable prices as well (cheaper than the two more famous knife stores, but I have no reference to compare quality).
Definitely worth a visit!
