宗派は浄土真宗本願寺派
元々は豊岡市奈佐谷の矢次山の中腹にあったが天平年間(1346～1370)
寺の僧が見捨てて出石に出奔したとされる。その後、羽柴秀吉の山名攻めの際、本陣に没収される。替地に小人町の南端に移転したが、江戸期に寺中と確執が絶えず、明治期に寺中を解散し、内町に移転したとされている。

It was relocated to the southern end of Kojincho in a substitute area, but it is said that there was a constant feud with Teranaka during the Edo period, and that Teranaka was dissolved and relocated to Uchimachi during the Meiji period.
