★ ★ ★ ★ ★ だいご小学校の敷地内にあるため、職員の許可が必要になりますが、ここの大ケヤキは一見の価値があります。
 As it is on the grounds of Daigo Elementary School, the permission of the staff is required, but the large zelkova here is worth a look.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 植樹等の由来は詳らかではないが、樹齢５００年余と推定されている。
離れて眺めると山と見紛うほど大きく立派な威容を誇っている。
現在だいご（大子）小学校の敷地内にあるが、近隣には保内藩の中枢としての大子陣屋、水戸藩の陣屋や奉行所が置かれた歴史がある。
当然その当時もケヤキは立派に聳えていたはずである。
この立派な大ケヤキがこの先も大子の街を見守り続けてくれることを願わずにはいられない。
The origin of the tree planting is not clear, but it is estimated to be over 500 years old.
When viewed from a distance, it is so large and magnificent that it can be mistaken for a mountain.
It is currently located on the grounds of Daigo Elementary School, but there is a history of the Daigo Jinya, the center of the Honai Domain, the Mito Domain's Jinya, and a magistrate's office nearby.
Naturally, zelkova must have been well-sounding at that time as well.
I can't help but hope that this magnificent zelkova will continue to watch over the city of Daigo.
