参道には数々の慰霊碑があったのにこれだけは境内の外。
何故なのか不思議な気持ちにまりました。
It is located in front of Kudan Church across from Waseda Avenue, just in front of the Yasukuni Shrine approach.
Even though there were numerous monuments in the approach, this was just outside the grounds.
I wondered why.

A memorial monument on the eastern edge of the Yasukuni Shrine. Moatoku is a memorial to the war dead who fought in World War II around Papua New Guinea in eastern Indonesia. Why isn't it enshrined at Yasukuni Shrine? Even though they were fighting the fear of death in the jungle under overwhelmingly unfavorable war conditions, if not as much as Peleliu. I'm neither right nor left, but I think the people who fought in that war should be equally grateful. If you are Japanese. This place is in the shade of a big tree and is a very pleasant place. You may be able to sleep more calmly than Yasukuni Shrine.
