★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great service, great people and great prices. I went there almost everyday I was in Kyoto. They get some new things everyday so it’s good to keep checking. They also have vintage film cameras and lenses upstairs. Definitely worth your time if you’re looking for used camera gear.

I don't speak Japanese, but the gentleman who served me did managed to explain the tax free shopping and that he would save the lens for me. I asked him to waiting 15 minutes and went back to my hotel to pick up my passport. OnceI got back to the shop, he got the lens out from behind the counter and we did the deal.
When I went to Japan again 6 months later, I went to the shop a number of times. Great to see camera shops like this selling quality new and used items.

My wife and I took a trip to Japan for two weeks last month and I dragged her around to all the normal camera shops that you hear about (MAP and all those) but wasn't super impressed with their selection of used equipment. I happened across Camera no Naniwa Kyoto, while we were wondering around on our last day in Kyoto. I was blown away at the selection of used cameras. Not that there was anything super rare or ridiculously low prices (the prices do seem really fair though), it was just that the selection that was there seemed to be tailor fit to my interests as a photographer. I probably could have walked out of there with the entire store if I had the money! Just ended up with this beautiful Rollei 35 as a gift from my wife and I love it! Can't wait to go back to Japan and make another stop here!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice collection of used lenses and cameras. Bought a used Nikon 85 1.4D for a good price and in good condition. Bring your passport to save tax. The owner, an older gentleman, doesn’t speak much English but can understand simple phrases. Recommend if you’re in Kyoto.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lots of second hand film camera choice. Staff not pushy but helpful and patient when you ask for help. Good value and some hard to find items like battery converters on the shelf. Nicely stocked film fridge. Great range of Leica film cameras with everything graded and labelled.

This is nerdy heaven and expect a great deal if the item is a "B rating" or below. I get all of my lenses from this joint because the great care and customer service that goes into it. Heck yes
