For Japan, this place has a great selection of English-language books, from classic literature and more recent fiction to history, science, self-help, etc. etc. I particularly enjoy their well-stocked shelves of fantasy and sci-fi, which include both the series you’d expect, and also quite a few popular recent publications. It’s hard to resist bringing home a whole stack of books, but averaging around 2,000~3,000 yen each, it would be a bit much. The store also has sections for other foreign languages. (The French area looks especially extensive!) Edit: Recently I’ve actually seen more books here at a slightly lower price! I’m not sure which of the factors mentioned in the response below might have shifted (maybe just my taste), but I’d recommend the store now more than ever!

It's one of the best areas to get English books in Tokyo, but it is slightly more expensive than ordering them online. However, if you don't have a credit card, this is going to be the best place to go!
