墳長40メートル、「後円」部径30ｍ、「後円」部高さ6メートル、「前方」部長さ10メートル、「前方」部高さ3メートル、6世紀中頃築造の帆立貝形古墳（前方後円墳）です。
開口している横穴式石室は雲母片岩の大きな１枚岩を組み合わせたもの。前室もあった可能性が指摘されています。
この大日塚古墳から出土した「猿の埴輪」は有名で、東京国立博物館に所蔵されています。なお、平成27年の調査では巫女の埴輪が2体と家形埴輪などが見つかっています。
近隣に駐車場はありません。ご注意下さい。

Mound length 40m, "back circle" diameter 30m, "back circle" height 6m, "front" length 10m, "front" height 3m, Scallop-shaped tumulus built in the middle of the 6th century (front Back tomb).
The open-sided stone chamber is a combination of large monoliths of mica schist. It is pointed out that there may have been an antecedent.
The "Monkey Haniwa" excavated from the Ootsuka Burial Mound is famous and is owned by the Tokyo National Museum. According to the 2015 survey, two priestess haniwa and two house-shaped haniwa were found.
