★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 校倉（あぜくら）造りです。雨の時や湿度が高い時は木が膨らむことで通気性を下げ、湿度が低い時は木が縮むことで通気性を上げる機能を持っています。大変よく考えられていますね。
It is a schoolhouse (Azekura) construction. When rain or high humidity, the tree swells to reduce air permeability, and when the humidity is low, the tree contracts to increase air permeability. It is very well thought out.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 東大寺本坊経庫は東大寺建立当初の建築だそうです。もともとは境内の北東部に建ち、金堂で使われる灯明油を蓄える油倉として使われていたそうです。それを正徳4年(1714)に現在地に移築し修理を経て経庫となったということです。
2013年本坊が公開された際、拝見しました。
It seems that Todaiji Honbo Suigo is the original architecture of Todaiji Temple. Originally, it was built in the northeastern part of the precincts and was used as an oil storage for the kerosene oil used in the Kondo. It is said that it was transferred to the current location in 1714, and it was repaired and became a warehouse.
I saw it when Honbo was released in 2013.
