 There is an explanation board in front of the bridge that crosses the main enclosure while entering from the entrance and looking at the castle tower on your left.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ かつてこの場所に本丸大手馬出があったのですが、説明によると、名古屋離宮時代に馬車の通行の妨げになるということで、失われてしまったそうです。なんとも残念な話ですが、推定復元図を見ると、確かに馬車の通行には邪魔だなと感じるので、それも仕方ないかなと思います。しかしそのお陰で現在、イベント広場といわれている広い場所が確保できたわけですから、悪いことばかりではないかもしれませんね。
ちなみに搦手馬出は現在でも見ることができます。
There used to be a major Honmaru horse-drawn carriage in this place, but according to the explanation, it was lost because it obstructed the passage of carriages during the Nagoya Rikyu era. It's a shame, but when you look at the estimated restoration map, you certainly feel that it's an obstacle to the passage of the carriage, so I think it can't be helped. However, thanks to that, we have now secured a large area called the event plaza, so it may not be all bad things.
By the way, Karamete-mon Maidashi can still be seen today.
