上杉景勝に始まり、江戸時代を通して米沢藩上杉氏の居城だった米沢城。
水堀だけを見ると他の平城に比べて防御力が低いような気がします。
既に周囲の敵に気を配る必要が無くなったのか、そもそも米沢が四方を急峻な山に囲まれているので、町自体が天然の要害だったのか……⁉️
いずれにせよ今は春の桜や秋の紅葉?、そして雪景色と四季折々の風景を楽しめるスポットになっています。(今回、訪問した初夏も緑が多く楽しめます)
It is a water moat surrounding the remains of the main building of Yonezawa Castle.
Beginning with Uesugi Kagekatsu, Yonezawa Castle was the residence of Mr. Uesugi, the Yonezawa clan throughout the Edo period.
Looking at only the water moat, I feel that the defense power is lower than other Heijo.
Maybe it's no longer necessary to pay attention to the surrounding enemies, or is Yonezawa surrounded by steep mountains on all four sides, so the town itself was a natural cause of harm... ⁉️
In any case, it is now a spot where you can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring, autumn leaves in autumn, snow scenes and seasonal scenery. (You can enjoy a lot of greenery even in the early summer when I visited this time)

城側に城壁や防塁等が無いのでもし攻め込まれたら容易く侵入を許してしまいそう。
