★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 現在、名古屋城三の丸の西側には堀川が流れていますが、その近くに崖の様な段差が建物の後ろに見えます。これが特別史跡指定された名古屋城の土塁です（国道２２号はその土塁を壊して造られたため、台地上に建つ城の立地と土塁の断面が見えます）。そして、かつてはその土塁と堀川の間に空堀があり、空堀と堀川の間が畝の様になっていました。これが長畝です。1860年（安政7年）に長畝（現在の朝日橋から景雲橋の間）に桜が植えられると桜の名所となり、小塩橋付近にあった大吉楼では花見の宴が開かれていたようです。
現在、空堀は埋められ建物が建っていますが、かつての姿を思い浮かべ、長畝だった道路の上を名古屋城から四間道・円頓寺商店街まで歩くのも悪くありません。

And there used to be an empty moat between the earthworks and Horikawa, and the area between the empty moat and Horikawa was like a ridge. This is a long ridge. When cherry blossoms were planted on the long ridge (between the current Asahi Bridge and Keiunbashi Bridge) in 1860 (Ansei 7), it became a famous place for cherry blossoms, and it seems that a cherry blossom viewing party was held at Daikichiro near Oshio Bridge. ..
Currently, the empty moat is buried and a building is built, but it is not a bad idea to walk on the long ridged road from Nagoya Castle to Shikemichi / Endoji Shotengai.
