案内板には
『六郷用水は、多摩川から取水（狛江市和泉）され、世田谷を経て大田区に至る大用水堀を流れ、矢口の南北引き分け（千鳥三丁目付近)で北堀と南堀に分水されました。 南堀は、さらに「蛸の手」(現在のJR蒲田電車区の車両基地付近)で、糀谷、羽田、六郷方面に分水され､それぞれの村の小堀を巡って田畑を潤しました。「蛸の手」とは、ここがあたかも蛸の手足のように分かれているところから名付けられたものです。』と書かれています。
