★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 慶長16（1611）年に完成した二ヶ領用水は、多摩川の水を上河原堰及び宿河原堰の2箇所で取水されたのち、久地の分水樋により4つの堀（久地堀、六ヶ村堀、川崎堀、根方堀）に分けられていました。
大師堀は、これら4つの堀の一つである川崎堀から、さらに細かく分かれた堀の一つで、大師河原、渡田方面の水田を潤していました。また、昭和14（1939）年から昭和49（1974）年までは、工業用水としても利用されました。現在の大師堀は、JR南武線鹿島田駅から100mほど多摩川寄りの市街地に位置し、延長は540mあります。
水と緑を配した広場や休憩スポットが各所に設けられており、水辺の散策に利用できまます。

The current Daishibori is located in the city area near the Tama River, about 100m from Kashimada Station on the JR Nambu Line, and has an extension of 540m.
There are plazas and rest spots with water and greenery, which can be used for strolling along the water.
