The place is beautiful yet historical. But it is very small complex in such “not-really-strategic” area. There is bus around, but still we need to go through uphill to reach the place. And where you arrived, well except the beautiful nature view around, again, the monument and historical places are in very small area.

For Touken ranbu nerds it is a good place to go! Especially Hasebe fans like me. It was really beautiful but better go without luggage. That is hella steep slope.

Fantastic, it is really fantastic!! Besides the temples are beautiful, the scene of natural is gorgeous but silent, so beautiful!!! If you are planning to have any trip in Sendai, this place must be one of the spot you take a visit.

This is worth the entrance fee especially when cherry blossoms are in flower. We were initially underwhelmed but as we progressed through the forest past the public toilets the experience became more magical. The lovey old trees perched majestically around the reconstructed mausoleums of the sons. There are many stairs but they are not overly steep.there are bamboo walking sticks free to use if you so need. Taxis were waiting at bottom of hill for those too relaxed or exhausted to walk home. Plenty of English information provided on sign posts throughout. One of the nicest places in Sendai.

Quite nice (but not mandatory) You need to walk a bit uphill to get there but to me it was worth it. Unlike many other places i visited in Japan the buildings are very colorful. And globally it’s a good escape from the city since you’re surrounded by nature. Historical texts are also in english which gives you some interesting reading. (And have a look to the nearby Zuihoji temple, it has a nice court/garden)

A nice little place to visit when you want to enjoy something different. The detailing on the buildings was just astounding. An opportunity to learn a bit of history was a great addition.

This place is in such a nice setting all around, you can get a taxi straight to the Temple though if the weather is nice it's absolutely worth walking to it. Once you get there its a small fee to get in though they will provide you an information pamphlet which are available in a range of languages and the place itself looks so nice.

Informative and impressive; reconstructions of the original buildings seem to preserve many of the features. Small museum shows off some of the burial treasures recovered during excavations preceding reconstruction, but more information on Date Masamune’s life (and the Date clan) in English would have been appreciated.
