★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Local Fisherman's Market in Sendai. With ghostly remnants of the catastrophic 2011 tsunami all around. This market is rises from the ashes. Items purchased can be easily grilled nearby in a large communal BBQ trough. The locals on occasion are pleased to share their favorite snack.
Definitely worth a try however is not easily accessible by train.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went here twice and had great experiences. This place is fun if you like seafood as you can buy fresh ones and grill them yourself. Also not to be missed is the auction, where you can get stuffs for half prices. They sell mostly seafood, but at times they have random goods as well. The atmosphere is relaxing, great to spend time with family and friends.
