★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing food! The katsu pork, beef you cook on a hot skittle and bento sets are all so good and the food is so fresh. I highly recommend eating here for spectacular Japanese food!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was supposed to be a fancy restaurant. We were seated next to other patrons with yelling and screaming children who were running around in the Japanese style seating area. And although we had arrived first they moved us, and not for a while at that. Then our food was late.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not exactly an English-forward restaurant despite its proximity to a major tourist attraction, but I cleared the first hurdle by getting my name into the "we'd like to be seated" book in katakana, which surprised the waitress. The menu is picture-based and it's pretty clear what you're getting even if you can't read it, such as my mountain of fried meat. Cool thing about the tonkatsu, too, is that we got both the typical Worcestershire-based sauce AND a miso-based sauce (a Nagoya specialty which is my girlfriend's jam).

When I was in Kyoto because of my family trip, I'd been to Kinkakuji temple.
After visiting that place, I went to this restaurant.
Family, including me, had talked to order food, and waiting for the food.
At that time, this restaurant seemed to slack, not seemed to have a lot of guests, so, I found the food seemed to come out soon.
Importantly, some of the guests were coming after us, Our food was more to come out LATER than the other guests food.
I said to my family "Let's wait a little longer, They looks like reserved guests"
Because the food did not come out even after an hour, I asked the employee, and she said my orders does not accepted.
Did not even apologize at all, it just came out to the employee going to receive a new order.
Who would try to re-order the food in that situation?
Because the worst memories of this restaurant was, of course, I DO NOT want to go back to Kyoto.
You sit still for more than an hour as a guest, Isn't it kind of weird?
But they NEVER came to my table, the employee but also not taking action to see that something does not make sense.
The WORST restaurant I'd ever had!
It totally sucks!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Loved this place, it's almost looked like Denny's but local Japanese food which are served a lot faster than Denny's...the set are good value and neatly presented, all hot and fast & smiling service. We are glad found this place amidst our journey.
