長さ約1.5km・広さ約40万m2という広大さと、白砂青松のコントラストが印象的な松原。赤松、黒松約17,000本が生い茂る国の名勝地です。三保の松原（静岡県）・虹の松原（佐賀県）と並ぶ日本三大松原の一つで、海水浴場として開放される夏場は、京阪神や中京方面から多数の海水浴客でにぎわいます。また、遊歩道も整備されているためウォーキングにも最適で市民の憩いの場となっています。
