★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 平家追討のために挙兵した源頼政が宇治橋の戦いで敗れ、子の仲綱とともに芝生の上で自害のがこの場所といわれている。この5年後、平家は壇ノ浦の戦い敗れ滅んでいる。
「埋もれ木の 花咲くことも なかりしに 身のなる果てぞ 哀れなりける」が辞世の一首と伝えられている。
 It is said that Minamoto no Yorimasa, who was raised to pursue the Heike clan, lost in the battle of Ujibashi and was suicide on the lawn with his child Nakatsuna. Five years later, the Heike have been defeated in the Battle of Dannoura.
It is said that "the end of the body can be pitiful without the flowering of the buried tree" is the head of the death poem.

Four years (1180), Minori Yorimasa and Iinou attempted to defeat the Heike, but failed. Defeated in the battle of Ujibashi, Motoyori Masami lost his stomach at Byodo-in Temple. The turf of the fan in the Byodo-in precinct is said to have been the place where Genyori Yorimasa was hungry.
