★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 鶯塚古墳（うぐいすづかこふん）は、奈良県奈良市雑司町に所在する古墳時代中期の前方後円墳。景勝地である若草山の山頂に所在し、国の史跡です。昭和11年に早くも国史跡に指定されている有名な古墳であるが若草山に登ってもこの古墳に立ち寄る人は少ないようです。まずこんな高所（海抜341ｍ）に100m級の前方後円墳があるのに驚きます。墳丘は写真のように木がほとんどないので前方後円墳を実感できます。それと埴輪が墳丘上に散乱（そんな数は多くないが）しており円筒埴輪まで観察出来るのには驚いた。古代のロマンを実感できる。（注）埴輪の破片は絶対持ち帰らないようにしましょう！大切な文化財です！
 The Uguisu Zukakofun is a front-back tumulus located in Zoshi-cho, Nara City, Nara Prefecture, in the middle of the Kofun period. Located on the summit of Mt. Wakakusa, a scenic spot, it is a national historic site. It is a famous burial mound that was designated as a national historic site as early as 1945, but it seems that few people stop by this burial mound even if they climb Mt. Wakakusa. First of all, I am surprised that there is a 100m class front and rear burial mound at such a high place (341m above sea level). As you can see in the photo, there are almost no trees on the mound, so you can feel the front and back circle mound. Also, the haniwa are scattered on the mound (although not many), and I was surprised to be able to observe even the cylindrical haniwa. You can feel the ancient romance. (Note) Never bring back haniwa fragments! It is an important cultural property!

全長103mの前方後円墳、築造時期は５世紀と推定。
当初は山頂に造られた古墳時代前期の古墳とされていたが、現在では出土品（滑石製品）からみて５世紀まで下るとの見方が有力。
山頂からは、奈良市街が一望できる。
Ushizuka Ancient Tomb (Uguisuzukakofun)
It is estimated that the construction time is the 5th century, with a total length of 103 meters ahead.
It was originally regarded as a burial mound of the early Kofun period built on top of the mountain, but now the view that it goes down to the 5th century in terms of excavated items (talc products) is influential.
From the top of the mountain, you can overlook Nara city.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 若草山のてっぺんにある古墳。大変見晴らしが良く、ここまで見渡せるのは千曲市の森将軍塚古墳へ登って以来。あちらのようにきれいに整備してもらえると嬉しいのですけども。
An old burial mound at the top of Wakasayama. The view is so good that I can see it since I went to Chigashi-shi Mori General Tsukazuka. It would be nice if you could maintain it like that, though.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 若草山の山頂から北方向に遊歩道を５０メートルくらい歩いたところにあります。古墳ですが、どなたが祀られているのかは判っていないようです。京都府南部にかけてと、春日原生林の眺望が楽しめます。若草山の山頂付近にいる鹿は、こちらには近寄ってこないようです。
It is about 50 meters on the promenade north of the summit of Mt. Wakakusa. It is an old burial mound, but it seems that it is unknown who is enshrined. You can enjoy the view of Kasugayama Primeval Forest from the southern part of Kyoto Prefecture. Deer near the summit of Mt. Wakakusa do not seem to come near here.

You will be able to see the whole Nara city area, sometimes the deer go up too, if you are lucky you can take a photo with the deer

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 若草山頂駐車場から徒歩５分ぐらいで着きます（奈良奥山ドライブウェイは有料です）。古墳周囲に柵がありますが、内部に入ってよい感じです。
後円部頂上から眺める景色は最高です。
It takes about 5 minutes on foot from the parking lot at the top of Mt. Wakakusa (Nara Okuyama Driveway is charged). There is a fence around the tumulus, but it feels good to go inside.
The view from the top of the back circle is the best.

こちらからは北側に木津の街を見ることができます。
