Hatcho off the coast of the northeastern part of Nagaoka Castle was a vast swamp area at the time. At midnight on July 24, Keio, about 680 Nagaoka clan soldiers aiming to recapture Nagaoka Castle spent about 6 hours traversing off Hatcho, surprisingly attacking Nagaoka Castle and succeeding in recapture.
