★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 富里工業団地に入って観た風景に、私は一瞬目を疑ってしまった。そこには5m以上もありそうな野馬土手がそびえていたからだ。これほどの大土手を目にしたのは初めてだ。
江戸時代、富里市十倉周辺には下総佐倉牧の1つ高野牧が広がっていた。徳川幕府は軍用馬の養育を主な目的に、広大な下総台地で野馬という半野生の馬を放牧していた。牧の柵等の役目をしていた土手を野馬土手と呼ぶ。
こちらの富里工業団地の一画にある大土手は、野馬の捕獲をする最終施設 捕込へ野馬を追い込む為の勢子土手というもので、当時は袋込または うど とも呼ばれた施設を形成していた。明治になると幕府は滅び高野牧も廃止になった。
この野馬土手は地権者の方達のご努力で、かつてここに高野牧があった事を証明する希少な史跡である。

During the Edo period, Takano Maki, one of the Shimosa Sakura Maki, spread around Tokura, Tomisato City. The Tokugawa Shogunate was grazing a semi-wild horse called a wild horse on the vast Shimosa plateau with the main purpose of raising military horses. The embankment that used to act as a fence for Maki is called the Noma embankment.
The large embankment in this section of the Tomisato Industrial Complex is the final facility for capturing wild horses. rice field. In the Meiji era, the shogunate was destroyed and Takano Maki was abolished.
This Noma Bank is a rare historic site that proves that Takano Maki once existed here, thanks to the efforts of the landowners.
