★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 昔は木で出来ていたらしいが、今は全く見所のない鉄の橋になっている。
森鴎外記念館と西周旧邸の最短距離を行く際に通ると便利。
 It used to be made of wood, but now it's an iron bridge with no highlights.
It is convenient to go through the shortest distance between the Mori Ogai Memorial Hall and the Western Zhou Old House.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 森鴎外の生家を訪れた後、西周旧宅へ行くために常盤橋を渡って津和野川を渡りました。今は規模の小さい鉄骨製の橋ですが、かつては津和野百景図にも描かれているような立派な木製橋で、橋のたもとに大きな松の木があったり、渡し舟場もあったとのこと。今は橋以外は何もないようですが、なかなか趣ある景観だと思いました。
After visiting Ogai Mori's birthplace, I crossed the Tokiwa Bridge and the Tsuwano River to go to the old house of Nishi Amane. It is a small-scale steel bridge now, but it used to be a magnificent wooden bridge as depicted in the Tsuwano Hyakukeizu, and there was a big pine tree at the base of the bridge and a ferryboat. There seems to be nothing but a bridge now, but I thought it was a pretty quaint landscape.
