★ ★ ★ ★ ★ かつて宇治田原には天智天皇の第七皇子、施基親王(志貴皇子ともいう)が壬申の乱の後の近江朝廷の滅亡と天武王朝の成立を受け、新政権との軋轢を避けるために隠棲した。そして716年に田原の地で薨去された。
このとき施基親王の第二王子の湯原王が父の御邸跡のこの地に父の霊を祀る岩代大明神社を創建した。
その後施設基親王の第六王子の白壁王が光仁天皇として即位、父親王に「田原天皇」と追号、岩代大明神社を田原天皇社とした。
その後明治になって大宮神社に合祀。ここはかつての田原天皇社の跡地という。

After that, it became the Meiji era and enshrined at Omiya Shrine. This is the site of the former Emperor Tahara Shrine.
