★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 和尚が何を考えてるかわからないです。お墓の前に火をつけてお経を唱えてもらうならわしがあるのにそれをしてくれない。他の寺はみんなやってるのに。
I do n’t know what Kazuhisa is thinking. If I have a fire in front of the grave and have me chanting, I will not do it. Everyone else is doing other temples.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 鎌倉～戦国時代に会津を治め、江戸初期に佐竹氏の下で角館を統治していた芦名家の菩提寺。芦名義勝（義広）とその子・孫の墓所が残る。観光地のエリアからはやや離れており、観光ガイド等にもあまり載らない場所だが、現代に残る武家屋敷の礎を築いた人物が眠る地に相応しい風格のある場所だった。
The Ashina clan's family temple that ruled Aizu during the Kamakura-Sengoku period and ruled Kakunodate under Mr. Satake in the early Edo period. The graveyard of Yoshihiro Ashina and his children and grandchildren remains. It is a little far from the tourist area, and although it is not often mentioned in tourist guides, it was a place with a personality suitable for the place where the person who laid the foundation of the samurai residence that remains in modern times sleeps.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 仙北市角館町上新町にある曹洞宗寺院です。御本尊は釈迦牟尼仏。会津若松市の天寧寺ですが、創建は室町時代の文政4年（1447）に芦名盛信が開山したのが始まりとされ、国替えにより角館へ移った際にも天寧寺が建てられました。山門は角館町で最も古い山門建築として貴重な事から仙北市指定文化財に指定されています。
It is a temple of Soto sect in Kamishinmachi, Kakudate-cho, Semboku city. The main deity is Shakyamuni Buddha. It is a Tenningji temple in Aizu-Wakamatsu City, but it was founded when Morinobu Ashina opened the mountain in 1447 (Bunsei 4) in the Muromachi period. Sanmon is designated as a cultural property designated by Semboku City because it is valuable as the oldest Sanmon architecture in Kakunodate.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not only a pretty temple, but any fans of Aikido may be familiar with Tomiki Kenji who created a controversial "sports" branch of Aikido.
Tomiki is from Kakunodate and is buried in his family's plot in this temple.
Don't miss the opportunity to walk up the hill at the back of the temple and along the hilltop for spectacular views of Kakunodate's river.
