★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 10時49分頃は、タイミングが良ければ3線のホーム全てに列車が停車している様子が見られます。
（2020年8月現在）
加古川線に乗って西脇市から加古川に向かっていると、その途中の駅がどれもかなり小さい駅のため、谷川がかなり立派な駅に感じられます。
 At around 10:49, you can see the trains stop at all platforms of Line 3 if the timing is good.

When you take the Kakogawa Line from Nishiwaki City to Kakogawa, all the stations on the way are quite small, so you can feel Tanigawa as a great station.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 駅舎は古式床しい雰囲気。駅前の観光案内所ははいきょになっている。丹波竜のモニュメント。待合所のテレビが未だにブラウン管。
The station building has an old-fashioned floor atmosphere. The tourist information center in front of the station is ruined. Tambatitanis monument. The TV in the waiting area is still a cathode ray tube.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ JR福知山線、JR加古川線の駅で二面三線の平面駅。
そのうち一線が加古川線に使われており、残り二線が福知山線に使われています。
福知山方面行きと加古川線のホームが同じで跨線橋を超えて大阪方面行きのホームがあります。
御手洗は改札外にしかないが、駅員さんに言えば対応してもらえる。加古川線の車両の御手洗を利用するのもありかも知れません。
全ホーム(福知山線上下、加古川線上下)の発着数を足しても1時間に計4本くらいしかなく、加古川線に至っては2、3時間に1本しかない上に
加古川駅までの通し運転するものは一本しかないのだ。あとは途中の西脇市止まりとなっています。
大回り乗車にしろ青春18きっぷにしろ「必ず計画を立ててから加古川線に乗りましょう」
A two-sided, three-line flat station on the JR Fukuchiyama Line and JR Kakogawa Line.
One of them is used for the Kakogawa line, and the other two are used for the Fukuchiyama line.
The platform for Fukuchiyama and the Kakogawa line are the same, and there is a platform for Osaka beyond the overpass.
Mitarai is only outside the ticket gate, but the station staff can handle it. It may be possible to use the Mitarai of the Kakogawa Line train.
Even if you add up the number of departures and arrivals at all platforms (up and down the Fukuchiyama line, up and down the Kakogawa line), there are only about 4 in total per hour, and the Kakogawa line has only 1 in a few hours.
There is only one train that runs all the way to Kakogawa Station. The rest is Nishiwaki City stop on the way.
Whether it's a big round trip or a Seishun 18 ticket, "Be sure to make a plan before getting on the Kakogawa Line."

大阪駅から1時間半～2時間程かかります。
最近はICOCA等の交通系ICカードも利用できるようになったようです。
そのことを知らず、切符を購入して乗車してきました。
福知山線の方では電車を降りるのに開くボタンを押す必要があります。
もしかしたら車輌に依るかもしれません。
また、調べた時間帯(大阪からで朝の7,8時頃の)電車の間隔は40分程度ありました。(有料特急含む)

加古川線は始発終着点になっており車止めがあります。
福知山線はこの辺りは単線区間になっており上り下りのホームが別々になっているので行き違いが可能です。
また本数は少ないですが特急こうのとりの停車駅でもあります。
駅前には丹波竜のモニュメントがあります。
駅横の駐車場は一時間まで無料です。
