The deity is Takemikazuchi and Susanoo. In 1645, an epidemic spread in Oya Village (Oya, Omitama City) upstream of the Sonobe River. When the villagers decided that Gozu-Tennou was the cause of eating people and threw the money of the Shintai into the river, they arrived here in Takehara Village. The villagers who discovered it said that our company started by pulling up the coins from the river, warming them with a bonfire even if the gods were cold, and building a shrine. The name of our festival "Awaawa Gion" is derived from the fact that when the coins were withdrawn, the skin was agitated and trembled. Gozu-Tennou was enshrined from Ichinoyayasaka Shrine (Tsukuba City) in 1837. Renamed Yasaka Shrine in 1869 due to the separation of Shinto and Buddhism. In 1875, Kashima Shrine was merged and renamed Takehara Shrine. Furthermore, it is said that the shrine of Koken Emperor of Murauchi Unclassified Shrine was merged in 1918, but since it is still enshrined on a hill 420 meters southwest, is it the former shrine?
Our company is also a legendary place of archery dokyo along with Empress Koken and Tsubakiyama Inari Shrine on the other side of the national highway. Dokyo, who was relocated to Shimotsuke Yakushiji, moved to Takehara, where he had his territory, and mourned the bodhi day and night for three years until he built Kokengu and died. It is said that the mirror, ball, and 剱 that Dokyo received from Emperor Koken were later discovered in the rock cave Gongen tumulus and delivered to us.
There were many hydrangea seedlings in the precincts. The hydrangea festival in June seems to be very gorgeous and lively. At that time, I would like to come back to worship.

Although there is no hydrangea festival this year, you can enjoy hydrangea slowly.
It won't get dense, maybe it's a little-known spot?
