The ancient aqueduct structure cuts through the east side of the temple still active to these days, brings water and electricity to Kyoto from Lake Biwa. Little Boy is amazed by the sacred stones that sit on the ground of growing mosses and matsu trees.

This relatively short aqueduct is beautiful and unexpected if you're unaware of it beforehand. Great for a unique photo experience, getting great pictures can be difficult with so many people around. The best time may be early in the morning. If you cross under the bridge and climb the stairs to the right, you can see the top of the aqueduct and the water rushing through.

It’s an aquaduct. A short one on Italian standards, a long one in Japanese ones. It still counts as one.

It's impressive and makes for fun pictures. The nature is amazing but I didn't learn about the bridge or history.

A truly Zen setting n highly recommended. Located within the Nanzenjifukuchicho temple, it’s an aqueduct built in ancient Roman architecture styling and a short stroll away from the main temple structure. It’s defunct now n the remains are purely for viewing. It’s a serene area, moss covered n lush with vegetation. Together with the tall trees, cool temperatures and a small stream of water that provides a truly scenic spot for quiet contemplation. The area has clearly been conserved n maintained and much of the original look has been preserved. It’s a unique structure to find in a forested area at a Japanese Zen Temple site but truly a gem, well worth a closer examination. Well recommended?

Next to Nanzenji Temple, a really picturesque Aqueduct. If you pass under the bridge and climb the stairs, you won't be able to walk on the Aqueduct itself, but you can have access to the canal upstream of the Aqueduct. There is a nice walk there!

Very unusual spot near Nanzenji temple, and historically significant to Kyoto. Has become popular due to Instagram picts of couples under the archways.
