★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 総社町植野で天狗岩用水(こちらは2020年12月に世界灌漑遺産に認定された)と分かれ、総社藩内をめぐり山王から元総社・東地区に至る用水。総社城の内濠の用水、宿場用水、水田用水として重要な用水。
総社地区から鳥羽町、高崎までを流域とし、用水を利用している地域の米の取れ高が五千石にもなるとのことでこの名が付いている。
ここに有る掲示板の文字が残念ながら読めなくなっているが、天狗岩用水などについては近くの総社歴史資料館に資料やジオラマがある。
最後の写真は蛇穴山古墳の脇に掲示されているもの。
 Separated from Tenguiwa irrigation water (which was certified as a World Irrigation Heritage in December 2020) in Sojamachi Ueno, irrigation water from Sanno to Motosoja and the eastern district around the Soja domain. Important irrigation water for the inner moat of Sosha Castle, post station irrigation, and paddy irrigation.
The basin extends from the Soja district to Toribamachi and Takasaki, and the rice harvest in the area where water is used is said to be as high as 5,000 stones.
Unfortunately, the letters on the bulletin board here are unreadable, but there are materials and dioramas for Tenguiwa irrigation water at the nearby Sosha History Museum.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 五千石用水は、総社城主であった秋元長朝が整備したものです。
長朝は領地を豊かにするため、農民の協力も得て、天狗岩用水を難工事の末に開削し、さらに五千石用水を整備しました。
五千石は誇張ではなく、この用水によって米の収穫は飛躍的に増大したとのことです。
名君である長朝に感謝して、農民達が建てた「力田遺愛の碑」が、光厳寺に残っています(*^^*)

In the Chocho period, in order to enrich the territory, with the cooperation of farmers, the Tenguiwa irrigation water was excavated after difficult construction, and the 5,000 stone irrigation water was prepared.
Gosengoku is not an exaggeration, and it is said that this irrigation water has dramatically increased the rice harvest.
The "Monument of Rikida Beloved" built by the farmers remains in Kogonji Temple in gratitude to the famous Chocho (* ^^ *)
