旗色不鮮明であった藤堂藩が新政府軍に従うことを決定、旧幕府軍の拠る対岸の楠葉台場に砲撃を加えたことにより旧幕府軍は退却を余儀なくされました。
実際には砲台場は碑のある辺りではなく、河川敷内にあったそうです。

The flag was unclear and Todo Satoshi decided to follow the new government army, and the former shogunate army was forced to retreat due to the bombardment of the Kashiwa-daiba on the opposite bank that the former shogunate army was based.
Actually, the turret was not in the vicinity of the monument but in the riverbed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 慶応２年（１８６６年）１０月、幕府の淀川制圧のため、高浜と対岸の楠葉に砲台を建設した。同４年正月３日鳥羽伏見の戦いに敗れた幕軍は、八幡、橋本、楠葉に集結し、薩長軍を迎撃しようとしていた。
当時幕命で山崎・高浜が藤堂藩、楠葉は酒井藩が守備していた。５日藤堂藩は勅使四条隆平に説得され帰順に決した。翌６日朝、対岸の幕軍に向かって、高浜砲台の新式四斤山砲は火を噴いた。
楠葉砲台も応戦し、夕刻まで砲戦は続いたが、幕軍は虚をつかれ、撤退していった。最後には船を漕ぎ出して、小銃で銃撃したそうです。

実際の高浜砲台は高浜砲台跡の場所でなく、淀川河川敷にあり、高さ八尺（約２．４ｍ）、周囲１００間（約１８０ｍ）の規模であったされています。現在は、淀川改修のためこわされ、ゴルフ場になりましたが、そのゴルフ場も無くなり、今はヨシの群生地となってます。河川敷に台場の雰囲気はまったくありませんが、壮観な眺めになっています。
In October 1866, a battery was built on Takahama and Kuzuha on the opposite bank to control the Yodo River in the Shogunate. The shogunate army, which lost the battle of Toba-Fushimi on New Year 3 of the same year, gathered at Yawata, Hashimoto, and Kuzuha to intercept the Satsuma army.
At that time, Yamazaki and Takahama were defended by the Todo domain, and Kuzuha was defended by the Sakai domain. On the 5th, the Todo clan was persuaded by the envoy Shijo Takatoshi and decided to return. The following morning, on the morning of the 6th, the new-style Shisoyama gun of the Takahama battery blew fire toward the shogunate on the opposite bank.
The Kuzuha battery also responded, and the gun battle continued until the evening, but the shogunate army was emptied and withdrew. At the end, he rowed the boat and shot it with a rifle.

The actual Takahama battery was not located at the site of the Takahama battery, but on the Yodogawa riverbed, with a height of 8 shakuhachi (about 2.4 m) and a circumference of 100 ken (about 180 m). Currently, it was destroyed due to the renovation of the Yodo River and became a golf course, but the golf course has disappeared and it is now a colony of Yoshi. There is no atmosphere of Odaiba on the riverbed, but it has a spectacular view.
