★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 歴史:尾張国丹羽郡の豪族丹羽氏従(うじより)が、文明三年(1471)に現在の日進市折戸町に移り住んだ際、居城として築いた。
氏従の子・氏員(うじかず)が文亀三年(1503)に、城を西方100mへ移して折戸城と名付け、吹上城は廃城となる。同年、氏員はさらに折戸城の北方1.5kmに本郷城を築いて、折戸城も廃城となる。
なお、「寛文村々覚書」には、その後も丹羽家家臣の矢野城主・矢野某が吹上城主として記されており、支城として維持されていた可能性がある。
現在:吹上城の大半は、八幡社の境内となっている。遺構は残っておらず、八幡社のある高台でわずかにそれと分かる程度である。しかし、この高台は北を除く三方に10～20m程度の高低差をつけており、かつての堅固な構えを彷彿とさせる。
…とは書いたものの､「城跡」と聞いてまず天守閣が思い浮かぶ方にはお勧めできない。完全にマニア向けの城跡である。
 History: It was built as a castle when Niwa, a powerful family in Niwa-gun, Owari Province, moved to the present-day Orido-cho, Nisshin City in 1471.
In the third year of Bunki (1503), the child of his servant, Ujikazu, moved the castle to the west 100m and named it Orito Castle, and Fukiage Castle was abandoned. In the same year, the staff built Hongo Castle 1.5km north of Orito Castle, and Orito Castle was also abandoned.
In addition, in the "Kanbun Village Memorandum", the Niwa clan's vassal, Yano Castle Lord, Yano Certain, is described as the Fukiage Castle Lord, and it is possible that it was maintained as a branch castle.
Present: Most of Imabari Castle is in the precincts of Hachiman Shrine. There are no remains, and it is only slightly noticeable on the hill where the Hachiman shrine is located. However, this hill has a height difference of about 10 to 20 m on all three sides except the north, which is reminiscent of the solid stance of the past.
Although I wrote that, it is not recommended for those who first think of the castle tower when they hear the word "castle ruins". It is a castle ruin completely for enthusiasts.
