★ ★ ★ ★ ★ LOVED the food here. Great for vegetarians. I'm not sure how English friendly they are as we had a Japanese speaker with us who could read the Japanese menu. However, all of the vegetables we ordered were heavenly. We ordered about 12 dishes between 3 of us and there was nothing we didn't like. I was worried we would leave hungry but we were all pleasantly full by the end. Would go back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had an incredible meal here. Possibly one if the best we have ever had. The menu is effortless - just put yourself in their hands, order the grilled vegetables picked by then, add chicken and beef, grab a beer or sake and sure back and enjoy the space. And at the end, marvel at how reasonable the total is.
Any complaints about treating foreigners poorly didn't apply for us, the staff was very accommodating. Just don't expect a primetime table without a reservation. We showed at 5, and they were happy to sit us at 539 when they opened until 7 when their reservations started.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Vegetables are front and centre ... elevated to the next level ... simply prepared on the teppanyaki but so full of flavour ... dressings and condiments are not strictly vegan or vegetarian. Tried the shitake and shimeji mushrooms, sweet potato, green chives, green peppers and kale. All excellent!

The simplicity of the theme offering daily seasonal vegetables cooked in front of you is awesome and the freshness makes all the difference !The Wagyu beef was so tender and well flavored it tops any beef restaurant experience I've had in years. The staff at first said there were no empty tables but we insisted later to be seated as we saw a couple of empty tables, wise decision ! The staff was actually so friendly despite their lack of good English skills, they even all wished us a good night as we left. Contrary to below reviews I don't think the place prefers Japanese customers. Thanks Isoya we shall remember this experience for a very long time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This restaurant specializes on grilled vegetables. They work with a local farm and all vegetables are super fresh and delicious. The grill is top notch with a Japanese touch. As a vegetarian, this is my must visit in Kyoto.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great farm to table fresh food and an amazing vibe. We asked the cook to surprise us with his choice of vegetables. Right choice of beef, pork, chicken and fish. Sake served in a wooden box is classy. Definitely will be coming here again. As non Japanese we felt very welcome even though the food menu is in Japanese.
