Top 3 Japanese ramen bowls I’ve even had! After a long wait and a slightly awkward ticket vending machine experience, we were comforted by great bowls of ramen with un-traditional broth flavor. I ordered the tsukemen as I personally don’t like soggy noodle soaked in soup for too long. But I was surprised by how TASTY the spicy and sour noodle was, I would order that if I visit the shop again. The spicy and sour noodle had toasty chilly pepper and slightly tangy flavors, almost like a mild and balanced Sichuan dan-dan noodle. Moreover, the wonton was great as well, with fantastic sauce which I can eat over rice or noodle.

After I watched the youtube "Paul Hallywood's Tries One of the World's Cheapest Michelin Starred Restaurants!", I really wanted to try Nakiryu. Basically, people queue up about 30〜40 mins outside(depending on the day)and need to buy tickets from the vending machine inside. Their speciality is spicy ramen(坦々麺)and Paul tried soy sauce soup(醤油) ramen. But my personal favorite is salt soup(塩)ramen because I can taste pure and deep taste of the soup itself. It's good experience to try Michelin star resturant. :))

Very tasty thin style tan tan noodles. Pay at entry with tickets, and I selected the 3 gyoza topping while my lunch partner chose the thin cut pork slices, and soy dipped egg. Just delicious, well worth the line up wait.

I went there yesterday for dinner with very high expectations since they got the Michelin star. But it’s far too salty for my palate. I couldn’t remember how many cups of water I drank last night since I was thirsty like crazy. After all Mensho is still the best. And another thing I want to mention is that the way they do to prevent the spreading of coronavirus. I went there with a friend, and the chef removed the safety shield between us, which was so kind. He asked us not to talk without wearing, also very appropriate. But during eating, we talked a bit because the soup was too salty for both of us (which I know we shouldn’t, and we tried to limit as much as possible), and the chef said “Don’t talk” with a (in my perspective) quite loud voice. These confused me a lot, if their rules about coronavirus prevention are that strict, so why he lifted the the safety shield up??? This morning I’m still thinking about it and wonder which disappointed me more, the ramen or the attitude of the chef.

The best tantan ramen I’ve had. The long one hour wait was well worth it. I ordered the special tantan ramen which included the stewed charsiew and egg with a side of their charsiew rice bowl. The staff was extremely friendly despite staying past their closing lunch time. It is a must visit if you’re around the area.

Honestly not my favorite tan tan men, but the quality of the ingredients and the effort and talent that went into creating the recipe is undeniable. The tan tan men had just the right amount of spiciness and a strong (but not overpowering) peanut kick. Definitely recommend to try this at least once; this is a taste that you won’t get anywhere else. Be mentally prepared to wait in line for about 1 hour.

It took me almost 5 years to visit here because it was so out of the way, but was well worth it. I arrived around 1:30pm and waited about an hour from there. The line goes fairly quickly. There’s a menu outside so you can check what you need to get before entering. Once inside, you can select your order from the vending machine. I had the special tantanmen and it was probably the best tantanmen I’ve had. I believe it came with a wagyu brisket because the meat was super tender and juicy. All toppings were great as well including the shrimp dumplings. The noodles and broth were a perfect pair that I ate everything???

One of the three ramen shops with a Michelin star in Tokyo. This place is so cheap and delicious, probably it is on some food documentaries. We visited this ramen restaurant on a Saturday evening. I have arrived 40 min earlier than the opening time. However, there were 4 people waiting on the line already. I have to state that it is quasi emergency state in Tokyo right now, and most places are empty. Also, it is cold! The restaurant accommodates 10 people at a time, so if you do not make it to first 10, you will continue waiting outside in cold. We ordered famous tantanmen, and pork with rice (it also has mayonnaise), something like マヨチャーシュー飯 in Japanese. Honestly, I am not someone who visits ramen shops. Probably I eat it once or twice in a year. However, this one is very delicious and light. So, do not think you will eat something heavy. You might also even want to order something next to it. Besides, I did not find the ramen spicy at all. I normally can not eat very spicy food. It was quite easy to eat and enjoy. I highly recommend this place to anyone! If I am not wrong, we spent around ~1500 yen per person. It was Covid-19 quasi emergency state time in Tokyo, therefore I was the only foreigner in the restaurant. Anyone else was a young Japanese guy. However, there was a crowded girl group waiting outside.
