So while the coffee is great, the service is not. I have lowered my score from five stars to two.
Original review:
If you see my reviews, I visit a lot of kissaten coffee shops when I visit Japan. So far, this one has the best "basic house blend" that is reasonably priced at 400 yen.
It is the most well balanced house blend I've had in this trip. Bitter, but not super bitter, since it's soothes sourness holds up to it completely. Along with those two profiles, it has a very sweet finish. Just a great cup for st good price.
The place is lovely too, if s bit crammed. The whole place might fit just over a dozen people, if they don't mind getting cozy.
It's hidden away, but in a very busy tourist arena in kawaramachi. Absolutely worth checking out if you enjoy quality coffee.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Like a hidden gem in Kyoto!! The pudding, panna cotta and squash cake are so delicious. My tea is so good too. I love the atmosphere there! The owner is so friendly. Will visit this coffee shop again if I come back Kyoto. Highly recommend:)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Small cafe hidden away from the street, down some stairs. Reasonably priced cakes and drinks. Coffee was very good. Unique laid back atmosphere. However it’s quite small and they allow smoking, so it’s not a good place if you have a strong dislike of smoking.
