★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ビルの入口〜ファミリーマート右側よりビルに沿って敷地内に参道が配してあります。
四条の繁華街ビルの谷間、コンクリートのビルに沿ったモダンな参道を進み、手水舎に湧き出る御神水の水音を聞きながら御社へ。
こちらの御神水は古くから伏流水を汲み上げ、まろやかな味わいの御水。汲み持ち帰ることも可能（10:00〜16:00）
撫で牛さまも居られます。学問成就、火除けの神さまとして信仰を集めているそうです。
西から入る参道を90度折れ、春長寺の御堂を背景に御社は南を向いて建っています。
とても不思議な空間です。

そんな感じの神社です。
御朱印は前にある鏡屋さんでいただけます。
正直、京都の神社仏閣のなかでは見どころは無い方の神社です。

四条通りと京都大神宮の中間にある神社です。
入り口から本殿までは、ウナギの寝床のような感じに思えます。
しかし、小さめの神社ではありますが、雰囲気のいい神社です。普段、天神様にお参りされてる人は、是非、あなたの参拝のコースに加えてみて下さい。また、すぐ近くに伊勢系の京都大神宮もありますので、この２か所を巡礼コースにしてみてはいかがでしょうか？

創建は天正7年（1579）と伝えられています。
九州での乱を避けるため、大宰府から一人の老神官が菅原道真公の像を背負って入洛し、京都六条通周辺に祀ったのが始まりと言われています。
天正15年（1587）、烏丸二条に大雲院が創建されるとその鎮守社として移転し、慶長2年（1597）に豊臣秀吉の命により現在地に移されました。
また、元治元年（1864）の蛤御門の変では、この一帯だけが奇跡的に被害を免れ、これまでの京における度重なる大火でも免れたことから学問成就とともに火除の神として信仰を集めています。
